Moving from the Bay Area to Florida

I moved from the SF Bay area to the Philadelphia area and had a great experience with Bekins. Covid measures were followed and everyone was professional and courteous.

Starting with my first call in to them - Val was great and very helpful - she set me up with an in-home appt with Jim to do the estimate. Jim assesses and takes inventory so that nothing is overlooked - he was professional, detailed and thorough, and straight to the point. I appreciated all those qualities! On moving day, the three men were prompt, polite, and got straight to loading the truck. The move was completed an hour earlier than anticipated and I was charged accordingly. I highly recommend AMS Bekins! I called 3 other places for quotes, and I'm so glad I chose and hired them. I don't plan on moving any time soon, but if/when I do - they will be my go-to movers. The whole moving experience was excellent starting with getting an estimate for the job to the office for billing to the movers. Everyone was professional and helpful with our concerns. Their team were professional, on time and very thorough. The move came in two parts, with things being packed and stored in phase 1 for the staging , and the final move with stage 2, 1 month later. I figured given the storage and moving , things were bound to go wrong. However, everything happened as planned and the move was made a lot easier thanks to their work. I interviewed 5 companies before choosing AMS Bekins for two moves from the Bay Area to Santa Barbara. From the first moment I called them to schedule a walk through to the final invoice, I received nothing but the very best customer service. They were not the least expensive company but what we paid and what we received in exchange was an excellent value. The team that packed and moved our things were very thorough, gentle with fragile items, asked questions when needed, friendly and very professional! I would not hesitate in the slightest to use them again. One of the things that impressed me the most is that they scoped out the area we were moving to and knew the logistics it would take to get the items safely into the home up a narrow road. The other companies did not due their due diligence and I had to share this information with them after they sent their quote. AMS Bekins was also a great wealth of information in connecting us to companies that transport vehicles and disassemble and assemble gym equipment. Pablo, the crew leader, was a strong leader, disconnecting my cable and providing good directions to taking apart a baby grand piano! I am so appreciative of their work, Cameron's, the on site estimator and the office personnel that handled all the necessary documents that were required. The excellent Texas crew were very good about putting furniture and boxes in the correct place plus putting a baby grand back together. Loved having a check list for all my items. Looks like some people had a bad experience, and I think it all depends on luck of the draw for people you get, same with any moving company. So here are some things that I did to reduce my risk level:1) I packed 95% of my stuff myself.1) I asked about when the "van line" would be moving across the country. I then coordinated and booked my pick-up / drop-off dates, so my stuff wouldn't go into a warehouse.2) I asked a lot of questions about the move and had them to be included in the quote (stairs, shuttle vans, packing, estimated pick-up/drop off date, etc).3) I mentioned a few times I was paying for the move myself, not expensing to a company. [There are no deep pockets here if my stuff is lost/stolen]4) I generally hung around the movers during the move, had casual conversations, tried to be personable, offered a bottled water/snack + tip at the end. [I feel like things go better if you are nice to people] read less

I was referred to them by a previous moving company that I used about 6 years ago for a move from NY to SF. I needed to hire a mover for my move from SF to LA just now. The previous company could not accommodate my move and thus directed me to AMS Bekins. Dylan arrived at my home to do an estimate and ended up going with them in the end. Sandra from the office was helpful to with coordinating logistics with the inventory pick up. The movers themselves Andres and Daniel are very professional, accommodating, and pleasant to work with. I don't know who is posting these negative reviews but when the previous company who I used for a cross country move (who provided excellent service) refers me to AMS Bekins only to have four different people from the company give me an overall pleasant experience, I think that speaks volumes.
